Who we're looking for

Physicians, NPs, and PAs are all welcome as preceptors. New to precepting? That's fine. We'll support you through your first rotation, and we're always a phone call or text away.

  • Practicing full time in pediatrics (newborn through teen patients)
  • Work at an independent or privately owned practice (not hospital- or health system–owned)
  • Located anywhere in the U.S. No PA program nearby? No problem.
  • Interested in mentoring future PAs

Common questions

How long is each rotation?

Rotations are typically 4–6 weeks. You'll know the dates before you commit.

Will precepting slow down my clinic?

It doesn't have to. To stay efficient, most preceptors have students see only a portion of their patients, and students help with writing notes, performing procedures, and providing patient education.

Do I need a PA program near me?

No. PA students often travel for clinical rotations, so where you practice doesn't matter. Rural towns, inner cities, and everywhere in between are all welcome.

What's in it for me besides the honorarium?

  • CME credit. PA preceptors earn CME for precepting.
  • Preceptor recognition. Participation in this program makes PAs eligible for AAPA's Clinical Preceptor AAPA (CPAAPA) designation.
  • Sharper skills. Teaching keeps you current, and students ask great questions.
  • Good karma. You'll help train the next generation of pediatric clinicians, maybe even for your own community. We can't promise it'll make the world a better place, but it won't hurt.

What paperwork is involved?

A standard affiliation agreement between your practice and the PA program. We prepare it and walk you through it.

Interested? Let's connect.
